Moong Dal Soup


Ingredients 

  • Onion - 1
  • Tomato Puree - 2 tbsp
  • Garlic - 1
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Moong Dal - 1/2 cup
  • Lemon Juice - 2 tsp
  • Carrot - 1/2
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Black Pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • (Optional) Soy Sauce - 1 tbsp
  • Oil - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves - 1tbsp


Recipe

  • This recipe creates 1-2 servings of lentil soup.
  • Heat up a pan and add a small amount of oil to them, let the oil splutter.
  • Add chopped onions and chopped garlic to pan and cook until golden brown on medium flame.
  • Parallely, soak the Moong Dal in water and keep them aside for
  • 25-30 mins.
  • Add the tomato puree to the pan and stir for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Now, add chopped carrot and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Drain the water out of the lentils and add them to the pan along with water, salt, black pepper and (optional) soy sauce.
  • Mix well and then let it cook it for about 40-45 minutes on medium flame, or until the lentils are soft.
  • Scoop out the mixture and blend in a high-speed blender until the soup thickens.
  • Now return the blended soup to the pan and cook it for 5-10 mins until you get the required consistency.
  • Adjust the seasoning and top it off with some lemon juice.
  • Finally, garnish it with coriander leaves and serve it hot.
